Previously, these games could be accessed even through the Messenger app, activated by easter eggs when sending emojis to a contact, for example. To improve the user experience with the app, Facebook made some cuts and simplified the usability of Messenger.

Games can still be accessed in the messaging app, but only after they have been launched in the main social network app and with permission to “send messages.” Ultimately, the experience is the same.

What about Facebook Gaming?

As the name suggests, Facebook Gaming is a platform focused on games, but not instant games. These are games that depend on their own app, such as PUBG Mobile, Legends of Runeterra, Fortnite, Free Fire , etc. The idea is to compete directly with Amazon’s Twitch and YouTube Gaming with live broadcasts of gameplay.

You can stream from your phone, directly from the Facebook Gaming app, or from your computer, and players are paid . There was a time when Facebook Instant Games could also be accessed through the Gaming app, but then company decided to migrate these games to the main app.

In conclusion, Facebook offers two distinct gaming experiences. One is Instant Games for casual, instant entertainment in the main app, and Facebook Gaming for more immersive, app-based games and live-streaming. Each has its own niche, allowing Facebook to cater to different types of gamers. Whether you are looking for a quick game to pass the time or wanting to stream your latest match of PUBG, Facebook has you covered.
